Patrick has been living and working in Korea for over 11 years now and is the founder of DOINDIE. DOINDIE started out as a simple bilingual independent indie music webzine that has since grown to become a comprehensive industry promotion resource for Korea’s vast independent music scene. Among other things DOINDIE provides exclusive content including interviews, recorded live sessions, shows listings, articles, band / venue profiles and much more. In the last few years we have gone on to do much more than just create content. We now host regular shows in Seoul (and other cities across the peninsula) featuring eclectic lineups and showcasing some of the best up and coming talent from Korea and around the world. To date we have organized concerts featuring many of Korea’s brightest talents as well as international acts like The Dizzy Brains (Madagascar), I Wear Experiment (Estonia), Chinese Football (China), Eyre Llew (UK), Berri Txarrak (Basque Country) and countless others. In addition to one off shows we also organize longer tours both in Korea and abroad. We have organised several small tours inside Korea for both local and international acts. In 2017 we organized a 24 show European tour for one of Korea’s fastest-rising indie bands (57). This year we are organising a full Asian tour for Eyre Llew (UK) that will see the band appear at venues and festivals across the continent. The Korean leg of the tour will be part of a tour exchange with Korean artist ‘In The Endless Zanhyang We Are’ which will see the two bands release a split EP as well as playing several shows together. On top of running our own successful concerts / tours we also book bands to play at other events. To date DOINDIE has worked with some of the biggest brands in Korea including CJ, Shinsegae, Zandari Festa, Live Club Day and more. We have booked bands for several music and beer festivals including The Booth’s ‘Beer Week’ and ‘City Project’ in Gwangju. We recently launched our own label / artist management company called Beeline Records ( Beeline was created with the aim of identifying and nurturing new talent from Korea and helping to distribute music in Korea for up and coming international bands. Through our partnership with Union Studios, 2018 will see us record and release several split releases between Korean and International bands as well as managing our own stable of artists. I have also been involved in the running and organisation of Zandari Festa (Korea’s number one independent showcase festival) and as part of the team that organises the export of Korean bands on behalf of Mu:Con (one of Asia’s leading music business markets).
