Music Venue Trust was created in January 2014 to protect the UK live music network by securing the long-term future of grassroots venues. Beverley runs the charity, co-ordinates campaigns and communication, fundraises, produces Venues Day, manages the Music Venues Alliance, liaises with arts/cultural sector partners, advises venues and local authorities, represents MVT at national/international meetings.

Beverley has over 20 years’ experience of Arts Development, event management, tour co-ordination, building networks, funding, evaluation and strategy. She has worked as a local government Arts Development Officer in 3 different authorities and as a freelance Arts Consultant in London and Barcelona.

Rebecca Ayres is Managing Director of Sound City. As a response to the pandemic, Sound City recently launched a new streaming platform called Guests House. Guest House is a subscription streaming service featuring many of the festival artists live from their homes during the COVID-19 lockdown. Guest House is the only service directing subscription revenue directly to artists whose performance income has been cut off by the shutdown of the live music sector across the world.

Anika Mottershaw is A&R and Project Manager at Bella Union where she has worked for the past ten years. Anika started at Bella Union after moving to London dropping out from university and meeting label founder Simon Raymonde at the gigs she was going to. Not long after this Anika became Label Assistant signing her first artist in 2012. She now works as A&R and is Project Manager, working closely with the label’s artists. Outside of the label Anika is a huge fan of literature and film and loves to get involved in creative endeavours as often as possible.

Company Director of Musicbox Studios which was established in 1996 and is one of Wales’ longest running and largest rehearsal, recording and backline hire facilities. I am currently one half of Right Hand Left Hand and 1 quarter of Ghostlawns but I’ve been in lots of bands over the years and appeared on lots of albums. I’ve been fortunate enough to tour a lot of the world as both a musician but also as a tour manager and tech for bands like Los Campesinos! Future of the Left and Super Furry Animals to name a few.

Anastasia created Noise Unit PR in 2019 after nearly a decade in the music industry starting from writing for the likes of Drowned In Sound, The 405, DIY and GIITTV, to promoting emerging artists and later working with leading European festivals. She has spoken and presented at many international events, including Pop Montreal (Canada), Linecheck (Italy), Westway Lab (Portugal), MENT (Slovenia), Sharp (Slovakia), and Tallinn Music Week (Estonia). A St Petersburg native, Anastasia has travelled and lived in many cities from London to Manchester to Beijing. She’s based in Edinburgh now, and it feels like home.

Tom is a member of the British Council music team and works as Programme Manager with countries in Wider Europe and South Asia.
His background is in live music, having held roles as Music Programmer at The Big Chill Festival the Barbican Centre in London and Warwick Arts Centre. With No-Nation he developed and produced events for venues and organisations including Sydney Opera House South Bank Centre Royal Opera House Brighton Festival and Music Beyond Mainstream.

More recently he developed UK and international touring projects with Asian Dub Foundation The Light Surgeons and CDR.

Rob was the founder of UK based agency Electric Harmony. He was part of this company for 7 years working with artists such as Idles, October Drift , Demob Happy & Lazy Day among others. In 2018 the decision was made to close the doors of Electric Harmony for good. As of January 2019 the agency merged with The Empire Agency.

A Working Live Sector – Road to Recovery.

Sam Dabb has been working in and managing Le Pub for 23 years. Under her guardianship it became a top venue on the Uk touring circuit and has been nominated for many awards including NME Small Venue Of The Year in which it finished third overall and first in Wales. In 2016 when faced with closure due to the sale of the building Sam set up a co-operative and launched a community share offer enabling Le Pub to move to much bigger premises and become a multi use artspace as well as a venue.

Sion Trefor is a composer, performer and producer based in the UK. His work is distinguishable by a fluid, staggeringly emotive musical language that is both highly distinctive and accessible. Recent / upcoming projects include composing and producing scores for three upcoming features, Netflix series ‘Freud’ and BBC’s Gavin & Stacey Christmas special (international version). Recent clients including Rolex, Disney, Aston Martin, Google Arts & Culture, Nationwide, Saatchi & Saatchi, AIG and PwC. Sion released his debut solo piano album earlier this year, and releases his band, Future Kult’s debut EP in October 2020.

Otto is an Indie-Pop artist from Wales. Having graduated from the prestigious Forte Project and been championed by Bethan Elfyn (BBC Radio 1) he has already been singled-out as one of the most talented artists of his generation. Over recent years he has opened for acclaimed acts such as Louis Baker and Saint Raymond and has performed everywhere from HubFest and Landed Festival to Swansea Fringe, Swn and HowTheLightGetsIn. Otto’s single ‘Boxer’ was A-listed on BBC Radio Wales for six weeks over the summer and his new EP (‘Post’) was supported by the BBC Horizons Launchpad Fund.

After joining The Great Escape team in 2015 as Bookings Assistant, I was quickly promoted to the role of Event Executive a year later where I managed all of The Great Escape’s international and UK based trade partnerships with the most important building blocks of the music industry including Sentric, PRS For Music, Sounds Australia, SESAC, DITTO or the Association of Independent Music (AIM) plus I oversaw the running of The Alternative Escape. Since August 2019 I have also taken on Event Management tasks as well as managing all event partnerships.

Mike helps organisations around the world to find creative ways to engage with their audiences, and maximise and measure the impact they make.

He is an Associate Consultant with the Co-production Network for Wales, a Visiting Researcher in the Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, and a Mentor for with Welsh Government’s Accelerated Growth Programme for new businesses.

Mike regularly speaks at conferences and events, and has published a number of papers and books on themes relating to business, entrepreneurship, communication and creative public engagement. He has a degree in Physics and Philosophy from Durham University.

Lisa Jên Brown is from Bethesda North Wales. She is an actor singer writer and songwriter. Lisa is the lead singer and songwriter with award wining genre-defying band 9Bach – signed to Peter Gabriel’s RealWorld records. 9Bach perform extensively in festivals and gigs all over the world.
She has collaborated vocally with Gruff Rhys (from the Super Furry Animals ) on solo album’s since Candylion in 2007 She also features on Public Service Broadcasting ‘s Every Valley and has sang live with them in many festivals plus promoting the last tour dates at venues such as The Albert Hall.

Michael Lambert is an artist manager and co-owner of A Modern Way Management, representing artists including Fatherson, Idlewild, Roddy Woomble, SHEARS, Tom Joshua and Zoe Graham. He is also a director of Scotland’s award-winning Music Convention and showcase event Wide Days, which was founded in 2010, and takes place in Edinburgh each April. In addition to these roles Michael also represents the Association of Independent Music in Scotland.

Julie has been in the music industry for over 25 years from humble beginnings in a record store in Leeds. After moving to London to do an MA she began to work for independent label Cacophonous as label manager. She set up Visible Noise (an independent rock label to nurture UK guitar bands ) in 1998 and signed acts such as Bullet for my Valentine and Bring me the Horizon. She has also worked in Management sync publishing and branding . In 2016 she decided to take the leap and move in house to Sony.

She is contributing editor at The Line of Best Fit.

With a background in building relationships with artists, Kirsty came to Help Musicians from Performer Services at PPL and prior to that, a live mixed arts venue, specialising in artist hospitality. She joined the Health & Welfare team 4 years ago, handling grant applications and providing advice and support on the frontline directly to musicians in need. She works on projects around the charity’s mental health initiatives, and her work in Beneficiary Engagement ensures musicians’ voices are heard and represented in the work of the charity.
