Lisa Matthews-Jones (Arts Council of Wales)

As Portfolio Manager at Arts Council of Wales in Arts Development, Lisa’s responsibilities focus on ways that we can nurture a thriving but sustainable arts sector.

Recent initiatives that Lisa’s led on for Arts Council include Horizons/Gorwelion, a music development initiative with BBC Wales; Get Creative Festival, a national celebration of creativity with BBC and What Next?; Collectorplan, interest free loans to purchase works by living artists from Welsh galleries, partnering with Nesta to deliver innovation programmes and working with Welsh Government to expand PRS Foundation’s Momentum to Wales. She also chairs the Arts Council’s music sector development group

Born and raised in Wrexham, Lisa started out in and is passionate about contemporary independent music, with previous roles including secondment as Director of Creative Economy at Cardiff University and (continues to work closely on culture in the Capital Region), Managing Director of music industry development agency Welsh Music Foundation and a Director of Cerdd Cymru: Music Wales.
