FOCUS Wales Picks Up Prize for ‘Best Use Of Digital’ at Go North Wales Tourism Awards 2017

FOCUS Wales, Music Interactive and Arts Festival picked up the award for ‘Best Use Of Digital’ at Thursday’s prestigious Go North Wales tourism awards.
Organised by North Wales Tourism and sponsored by Travel Line Cymru and Capitol Radio, the awards took place at a packed-out Venue Cymru in Llandudno. The award is in recognition of the festival’s work in promoting digital technology in 2017 and for festival’s mobile app, which offered users a fully bilingual service in both the Welsh and English languages.
Working alongside software developer Greencopper and using their golive.fm app platform, FOCUS Wales were able to develop a festival app that allowed users to fully experience and interact with the 2017 festival, held in Wrexham North Wales, in both Welsh and English, creating an enriching user experience for festival goers and also putting the Welsh language to the fore as part of a major international music event. The work done between FOCUS Wales and Greencopper also means that other festival organisers in Wales now have the opportunity to create a mobile app that can function entirely in Welsh for their own events through utilising the golive.fm platform.
Speaking on behalf of FOCUS Wales, Co-Founder Neal Thompson said;
“We’re so pleased to receive this award, Our team has worked very hard to promote digital technology and innovations as part of the festival this year and also to ensure our mobile app was available in the Welsh language, not only to our customers but to other events seeking a way to provide this service to their own audiences going forward”
FOCUS Wales would like to thank The Welsh Government, who through the Creative Industries department had funded and supported the Digital Innovations strand of the conference programming at the festival in 2017, the Arts Council Of Wales and Wrexham County Borough Council’s Destination Management and events teams, for their continued and invaluable support.
Success in the Go North Wales awards also means that FOCUS Wales is automatically entered into the national Tourism Awards, organised by Visit Wales and to be held at Celtic manor, Newport in May of 2018.
