Yaw Owusu (POWER UP)

Yaw Owusu is a Liverpool-based creative consultant. He builds projects that integrate music, culture and content production that deliver long-term impact for creatives, brands, organisations and communities. He believes that the empowerment and platforming of under-represented voices, cultures and stories strengthens and bolsters the art, media and culture we consume.
Yaw has worked with the likes of Google, MTV, BET, MOBO, BBC, Universal Records, Levi’s, Liverpool Football Club, The Fader and more. He has helped launch the careers of multiple artists and has produced several radio, television and documentary projects.
In 2022, Yaw continued to creatively lead the award-winning POWER UP, the annual LIMF and the LIMF Academy programme whilst undertaking the programme design for the inaugural Liverpool Against Racism (LAR) festival for the Mayor of Liverpool’s office, which was the first festival of its kind in the world. Yaw was awarded an Honoured Friend of Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts by Sir Paul McCartney, a Leader in Music award by the Mayor of Liverpool and a Senior Leader Changemaker Award by B&BAN and BRiM recognising his extraordinary work in the sector.
2023 sees Yaw continuing his work with POWER UP, the LIMF Academy and a yet to be announced special project for Google and Youtube.
Yaw also serves as a board member for the Liverpool City Region Music Board and Black Music Action Group and leading music talent and digital sector development organisation, Generator NE.
