Masters In France came together in 2009, in Caernarfon, Bangor, North Wales. They quickly garnered a lot of media coverage releasing material in both English and their native tongue. The single ‘Yn y Ddinas’ selling 500 copies in its first week! Garnering the band extensive support from Bethan Elfyn and Huw Stephens. Add to this list of achievements the murder of 1 deer, a few pheasants, a night in the clink after a Dublin Castle gig and a lap dance from an O.A.P it’s difficult not to be impressed by the young groups wrap sheet. The bands single ‘Greyhounds’ saw the band snap up Carbon Neutral Single of the Week on Radio 1 and receive airplay from Rob Da Bank, Jo Whiley, Huw Stephens and the omnipresent Zane Lowe. Masters In France sport the song writing duo of Ed Jones and Owain Ginsberg. Who generate the initial ideas before turning the basics over to the rest of the band to add their own unique home grown flavour. Lyrically inspired by nights out in Caernarfon and finding influence in the banality of small town life, the lyrics for their Too Pure debut ‘Mad Hatter’ were written on a local bar mans arm! Masters In France produce the kind of tunes that sound more like a rallying cry for the masses. A call to arms for everyone that’s ever woken up on a Saturday morning bleary eyed and sore of head and asked themselves ‘Is this it?’
