Olaf Furniss (Wide Days)

Olaf Furniss is the co-founder of Wide Events which run the Born To Be Wide seminar and social evenings, the Wide Days convention, the (real) Off The Record days and an extensive range of music-industry events including the Scottish networking party at The Great Escape. In 2016 he also set up the Music Tourist consultancy to foster closer ties between the music and tourism sectors, founding the summit of the same name and organising workshops/talks at several conferences.
Starting out as a trade journalist for pan-European title fono and MBI at the end of the era depicted in Kill Your Friends, Olaf went on to write for Billboard, Music Week and Audience. This was followed by various roles at Popkomm, goNorth, Bylarm and Reeperbahn Festival.
Although he no-longer works full-time as a journalist, Olaf still co-writes the long-running Under The Radar column in The Scotsman/Scotland on Sunday, and is an occasional contributor to the BBC, The Guardian, I-Q and Musik Woche.
